Eng392GAZA (PNIC):-The Israeli occupation army on Monday morning announced that two Palestinians were arrested south of the Gaza Strip after they attempted to sneak into the 1948 occupied Palestinian territories.

According to a spokesman for the Israeli army, the two detainees were not armed and they were transferred to an undeclared destination for interrogation.

Tension has flared up at Gaza border over the past few days after seven Palestinians were killed and hundreds injured by Israeli gunfire on Friday.

Based on Israeli statistics, 65 Gazans managed to cross the border fence in 2016 and 60 in 2017. Some of them were able to advance hundreds of meters into the Israeli-controlled side before they were caught by the Israeli army.

The Israeli army claimed that a number of Palestinian protesters on Friday approached a military post behind the border fence, scuffled with an Israeli sniper, and attempted to kidnap him.
