Israel blocks entry of 500 kinds of goods into Gaza: Khudari

Gaza6Nov18GAZA (PNIC):-The Popular Committee Against the Siege on Friday said that Israel has been blocking the entry of 500 items of goods, including raw materials and goods used in local industries, into the Gaza Strip for 10 consecutive years.

Head of the Committee, Jamal al-Khudari, said in a press statement that preventing the entry of these items impedes any possibility of achieving economic growth in Gaza.

Khudari appealed to the Arab countries and the international community to pressure Israel to lift the siege imposed on Gaza because the humanitarian situation there keeps worsening.

The Israeli occupation authorities claim that they prohibit the entry of certain types of goods and raw materials into Gaza because they might be used in weapon-manufacturing by the Palestinian resistance movements.

After Hamas won the legislative elections in 2006, the Israeli occupation imposed a blockade on the Gaza Strip that was tightened in mid-June 2007 when the Palestinian internal division started.
