Japan-funded projects completed in Gaza Strip

Eng406BETHLEHEM (PNIC):-Takeshi Okubo, Ambassador for the Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to Palestine, visited al-Ahlyia Association for the Development of Palm and Dates in Deir al-Balah, in the central besieged Gaza Strip, on Tuesday, to celebrate the completion of a Japan-funded project for providing feedstuff production machines in Gaza.

A fund of $82,200 was extended to the al-Ahlyia Association for the Development of Palm and Dates to install feedstuff production machines in the fodder production sector of the association.

The Japan-funded project aims to use the equipment to provide cheap fodder stably to the livestock breeders in Deir al-Balah and its surrounding areas.

The most direct beneficiaries from the project are 700 breeder's households.

In addition, Okubo visited al-Mughraqa Municipality in Gaza to celebrate the completion of a sewage network project funded by the government of Japan.

The Government of Japan extended a grant of $79,925 to al-Mughraqa Municipality to expand the 1,275m of sewage network and to improve the life environment of Gazans, who were exposed to serious hazards of infection caused by the accumulated sewage water in al-Mughraqa in Gaza Strip.

About 300 residents (65 households) benefit the most from this project.

Okubo spoke at both celebrations and emphasized Japan's firm commitment of supporting Palestinian people from human security perspective, as well as the "importance of implementing social and economic development projects needed for Palestinian communities."
