Bulk378CAIRO (PNIC):-Arab League secretary-general Ahmed Aboul Gheit has called on all Arab countries to necessarily donate to UNRWA in order to help it cover its budget deficit and avoid further complication of the humanitarian situation in Palestinian refugee camps.

In a statement released by the Arab League, Aboul Gheit said the Arab states’ support for UNRWA activities is very important to maintain regional stability and address the humanitarian crises in Gaza in particular.

The statement pointed to recent generous contributions made by Arab countries, including Qatar, to UNRWA.

Aboul Gheit made his appeal after he received a letter on the difficult financial position of the agency from UNRWA commissioner-general Pierre Krahenbuhl.
