36KUWAIT (PNIC):-Kuwait is set to host on Sunday a conference on the suffering of the Palestinian children in light of Israel's violations of the UN convention of the rights of the child and it is expected to witness broad high-profile Arab participation.

The conference will be attended by the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmad Abu al-Gheit, Arab ministers of social affairs, and a group of representatives of government institutions concerned about children's rights, the Kuwait News Agency reported.

The Arab Council of Ministers of Social Affairs and Labor is scheduled to hold its 37th regular session on the sidelines of the two-day conference.

The conference's first two workshops will discuss "the conditions of Palestinian children in light of the international law and the convention on the rights of the child" and "the role of society and civil organizations in promoting respect for the rights of the Palestinian children".

The other two workshops will address "the deteriorating educational, health and psychological conditions of the Palestinian children detained in Israeli jails" as well as "the legal protection of the Palestinian children under the Israeli occupation and mechanisms to activate it".

According to Kuwait's Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor and the Arab League's Secretariat, the main goal of the conference is to highlight the obstacles that prevent creating a better environment for the Palestinian children and developing mechanisms to bridge this gap through partnership with experts and relevant Arab organizations.

Head of the International Islamic Charity Organization, Abdullah al-Ma'touq, said in press statements on Saturday that this "humanitarian" conference is aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian children, confirming Kuwait's full support for the Palestinians and their rights.
